Garibaldi Lake - Garibaldi Provincial Park

Tuesday, July 5, 2016

We chose this hike based on the spectacular views we saw on Phil Armitage's blog. It was a no-brainer, except we didn't plan on snow or rain in early June. I was also under the impression that this hike started off steep and leveled off after 4 miles, wrong. In fact, this hike is uphill the entire way to Garibaldi Lake (5.5 miles), never truly "leveling off". When we arrived at Garibaldi Lake, we strapped on our snow cleats and walked around the brim of the lake to take in the views. Even on a snowy, overcast day, it is a beautiful setting outside of Whistler. The total hike round trip was a little over 12 miles and we gained roughly 2,500 feet in elevation. This was the final hike of our Canada trip and it certainly kicked us in the pants. Hopefully next year we will make it to Panorama Ridge, if our legs can handle it. Enjoy!
